1990-09-26 | Mohawks Oka siege over

Preview Clip

The siege at Oka ended as it began, in chaos. The Mohawks, warriors, women and children, left the treatment center en masse and started to head for the military checkpoint that led to the town of Oka. In the confusion, two Mohawks, including a spiritual leader, escaped. Canadian Press reporter Peter Ray was there. (The natives were eventually loaded onto a bus and taken to Canadian Forces base at Farnham, Quebec.)
