All 261 people on board a Canadian-owned DC-8 were killed when the plane crashed in Saudi Arabia. The passengers were Muslim pilgrims heading home to Nigeria. The 14-member crew worked for Montreal-based Nationair. Maryse Lalonde of the Transportation Safety Board in Ottawa said the pilot reported engine problems shortly before the crash. (The cause of the crash was later listed as a blown tire that was sucked into an engine.)
