A 27-year-old woman gave birth to quintuplets in Montreal. They were the first quints ever in Quebec. The mother, Lina Haddad, a recent immigrant to Canada, had used fertility drugs. Haddad said she was shocked when the doctor told her she was to have three boys and two girls -- and she said that was enough for her. (The new parents instantly become eligible for a total of 24-thousand dollars in baby bonuses paid out by the Quebec government to promote childbirth. The father, Naji Abikhaiil, was unemployed. They had no family in Canada and were relying on Montreal's Lebanese community for help.)
