The first 177 of almost 12-hundred Canadian soldiers on peacekeeping duty in the former Yugoslavia returned to Canada. 177 soldiers from the Third Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry returned to Victoria after six months of UN peacekeeping duty. The soldiers were greeted by about six dozen wives, many with children. Corporal Dan Knipstrom, after greeting his wife Jody, said it was great to finally be back home.
