In late November, the federal competition tribunal gave Canadian Airlines permission to leave the Gemini computerized reservation system it had shared with Air Canada since 1987. The ruling moved Canadian a step closer to receiving a 246 million dollar cash infusion from American Airlines. Canadian spokesman Linda Thomas said it was also a day to celebrate for other reasons. (Canadian reported a third-quarter profit of 38.5 million dollars.)
