A 25-year-old Toronto police constable and his partner were shot while on foot patrol at an Ontario Housing Complex. Todd Baylis died in hospital the following day. Hours after the shooting, Toronto police chief William McCormack described the incident as a tragedy, but said dealing with people with guns was part of the job of law enforcement.
