Bosnian Serbs took hundreds of UN peacekeepers and UN observers hostage after NATO attacked Serbian ammunition dumps in late May. Captain Ryan LaPalm of Trenton, Ontario was among a group of Canadians detained at his post just north of Sarajevo. He said his week in captivity wasn't particularly harsh, but there were some inconveniences.
