Lawyers for former prime minister Brian Mulroney said he was left with no choice but to sue the federal government and the RCMP commissioner for libel. Mulroney filed a 50-million-dollar lawsuit over allegations he accepted kickbacks for influencing Air Canada's decision to buy Airbus jetliners. Lawyer Gerald Tremblay said on Nov. 19 that Mulroney categorically denies the allegations contained in a letter sent to the Swiss government at the request of the RCMP.
