Just weeks after sovereigntists narrowly lost the 1995 Quebec referendum, Bloc Quebecios leader Lucien Bouchard said Quebec's immediate priority was to deal with the state of its public finances and other bread and butter issues. Bouchard, who decided to leave federal politics to become leader of the Parti Quebecois, said on Nov. 22 that means the rest of Canada could relax for a few years before there's another Quebec sovereignty referendum.
