CIBC chairman Al Flood defended the bank's record earnings after it became the latest Canadian chartered bank to crash through the billion-dollar profit barrier. That brought the total profits of Canada's banks to 5.18-billion dollars for the fiscal year -- 900-million dollars more than the previous year. Flood said CIBC is a huge company that more than pulls its weight.
