One of the big changes announced in Ontario by the Harris government during "megaweek" was the revamping of the education system. The province said it was taking over responsibility for funding by removing education from residential property taxes. Businesses would continue to pay taxes in their communities. Education Minister John Snobelen also slashed the number of school boards and school trustees.
