A judge gave a BC businessman permission to proceed with his legal challenge of the May, 1997 BC election. Kelowna printing shop owner David Stockwell and his group H.E.L.P. BC want the BC Supreme Court to overturn the NDP election victory. They claimed the New Democrats committed fraud during the campaign by promising a balanced budget, despite warnings there would be a deficit. The NDP had tried to stop the case from going ahead. But BC's Chief Justice said the petitioners should have their day in court. Stockwell was pleased with the judge's decision.
