They celebrated the opening of the Confederation Bridge on the last weekend of May. But for the nearly 700 crewmembers and support workers who operated ferries linking New Brunswick and PEI it was the end of an era. Cafeteria worker Ann-Marie-Curley summed up the feelings of a lot of people. (The 13-kilometre Confederation Bridge opened to traffic May 31st. The first full day of traffic was June 1st. The toll was 35 dollars. The first person to drive from New Brunswick to PEI was Tony Brown from Sussex.)
