The Mountie who became the symbol of police security actions at the APEC summit in Vancouver spoke to the media for the first time in weeks. RCMP Staff Sergeant Hugh Stewart said he would wait until he testified at the APEC inquiry to give his account of the pepper spraying incident. But Stewart said the public opinion of the Mounties was faltering because the force did not speak up immediately to explain its security actions.
