The fatal shooting of a Buffalo-area gynecologist intensified police efforts to find an abortion sniper. Winnipeg police inspector Keith McCaskill, spokesman for the Canadian task force, said there were enough similarities between the killing of Dr. Barnett Slepian and other non-fatal sniper attacks on doctors to assume that they were looking for one man. Police latter issued a material witness warrant for ames Kopp of Vermont. His car was spotted near Dr. Slepian's home weeks before his murder. He was also believed to be the one who dropped off a number of abortion-related warnings to the Hamilton Spectator newspaper.
