The Vancouver man at the center of a child pornography case said he would not be surprised at an appeal. John Robin Sharpe was charged with possessing child pornography after police seized photos of adolescents and journals depicting fictitious child sexual activity. He was acquitted in BC Supreme Cout in January 1999 and the ruling was upheld in May 1999 by the BC Court of Appeal, which said the laws did not criminalize having objectionable thoughts. Sharpe said the BC Attorney General had little choice but to appeal, but that didn't mean he was happy about it.
