Two men charged with oil well vandalism in northwestern Alberta continued to go without food in January. Fifty-seven-year-old Wiebo (wee'-boh) Ludwig and 53-year-old Richard Boonstra were remanded in custody until their preliminary hearing May 3. Ludwig's wife, Mamie Lou, said on Jan. 26 that her husband and Boonstra hadn't eaten since they were arrested on Jan. 1. But she said it wasn't a protest.
