Federal Justice Minister Anne McLellan introduced legislation on Apr. 15 to give victims of crime a greater say in court. McLellan said the changes reflect the concerns victims brought to her about not being able to read a statement in court when a criminal is sentenced. McLellan said the planned changes would also require judges to inform victims of their rights to make statements in court.
