The Quebec legislature expected to begin work on a back-to-work bill July 2nd. But the province's nurses refused to bend. The nurses said they were prepared to go to jail to defy such an order. Vice-president of the Quebec Federation of Nurses Michele Boiclair commented on the nurses' opinions. (The legislation would also force one-thousand pharmacists who work in hospitals, clinics and nursing homes to guarantee essential services in case of labor unrest.)
