Chief of defense staff Maurice Baril announced an expansion July 29 of an inquiry into the health effects of a peacekeeping operation in Croatia between 1993 and 1995. Baril said the military had an obligation to take care of its people. Baril said he wanted an inquiry into the potential exposure of peacekeepers in Croatia to toxins to be done "right" and "quickly."
