The man at the center of the Croatia toxins investigation said the military mishandled allegations that his own men spiked his coffee and food with battery acid and naphtha gas. Retired Warrant Officer Matt Stopford was not informed about the allegations until six years after his return from overseas and after he became ill. Stopford eventually won a 625-thousand no fault settlement of a lawsuit he filed against the federal government.
