Several dozen government workers cheered and sang on Oct, 29 after the federal government settled a 16-year-old pay equity dispute with its clerical workers. The settlement included 3.6-billion dollars in back pay for the civil servants. Diane Bays, who had been a government employee for 26 years, said the money would help her put two daughters through school.
