Karla Homolka, the former wife of Paul Bernardo, withdrew her application on Nov. 18 for escorted passes from a Quebec prison. Homolka was serving a 12-year sentence after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the sex-killings of Ontario teenagers Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy. Tim Danson, the lawyer for the French and Mahaffy families, said Homolka tried to manipulate the system, but didn't get away with it.
