Transport Minister David Collenette unveiled legislation on Feb. 17 designed to protect air travelers from Air Canada's virtual monopoly of the skies following its takeover of Canadian Airlines. The government also gave the Canadian Transportation Agency more powers to address complaints on prices on monopoly routes. Collenette said the government's main objective was to protect consumers.
