Ford of Canada announced on Aug. 9 that a recall of Bridgestone-Firestone tires in the US would be extended into Canada. There had been complaints the Firestone tires peeled off their casings, sometimes while vehicles were travelling at high speeds. Ford's John Arnone (ar-noh-NAY') said the recall involved about 240,000 Ford vehicles in Canada but stressed there had been no incidents involving the tires on this side of the border.
