Hundreds were killed after a magnitude 7.6 earthquake rocked Central America on January 13th. In El Salvador, buildings were damaged, roads blocked and a landslide buried hundreds of homes. Canadian International Co-operation Minister Maria Minna was in San Salvador when the quake hit. (The minister immediately announced a one million dollar emergency aid package to provide shelter and other supplies for the quake victims.)
