Randy Ferbey's Edmonton foursome defeated Manitoba's Kerry Burtnyk and his Winnipeg rink 8-4 at the Brier in Ottawa on March 11th. The pivotal shot came in the ninth with Burtnyk attempting a triple takeout which didn't work. Instead, Alberta scored two and Ferbey captured his third Brier -- his first as skip. Burtnyk said it was a Hail Mary play.
