The International Olympic Committee chose Belgian doctor Jacques Rogge (ROHZH'-uh) to lead the organization at its meeting on July 16th in Moscow. Montreal lawyer Dick Pound, who was also vying for the job, said there were signs before the vote that he was going to lose. Still, he was clearly disappointed he didn't win. (Pound said he could live with the IOC's decision, but added he would speak with Rogge before deciding whether to remain with the Olympic organization. The president of the Canadian Olympic Association said he hoped Pound would stay on.)
