Some very frightening moments for the passengers and crew of an Air Transat jet on August 24th. Their plane, bound from Toronto to Lisbon developed a fuel leak and was forced to make an emergency landing in the Azores Islands. The military chief of staff of the airport, Antonio Costa Coehlo (koo-EHL'-yoh), said the pilot radioed he had no fuel left and would attempt to glide onto the runway. (Several passengers were injured, none seriously.)
