Canadian Alliance critic Brian Pallister pressed the Chretien government about who knew what, and when, in the Canadian Forces capture of prisoners in Afghanistan last January. Speaking before an Alliance caucus meeting in Ottawa, Pallister said he didn't believe Defense Minister Art Eggleton had a handle on what was going on in the military. (Eggleton admitted he found out on January 21st that Canadian special forces in Afghanistan had captured prisoners and turned them over to American troops. But he didn't tell the prime minister about it until over a week later.)
