Montreal jazz great Charlie Biddle was remembered at a memorial service in Montreal. He died February 4th of cancer at age 76. The Order of Canada recipient played bass with Thelonious Monk and Charlie Parker, and helped keep Montreal's jazz scene alive in the '50s and '60s. His son, Charles Junior, was touched by the support from the community. (Biddle Junior said his father left the US in 1948 and lived his life's dream in Canada, a dream he felt was unattainable in his native Philadelphia due too entrenched racism.)
