The Prime Minister said the intention was good, but unfortunately the execution was poor. Paul Martin said a questionnaire asking potential Liberal candidates about their mental health history was intended to weed out anyone who lied about their qualifications on their resumes. (Martin later said that questions asking whether potential candidates had ever been treated for alcoholism or drug dependency would be deleted or revised.)
