Known as a soldier with a strong sense of humor, Corporal Jamie Murphy had a much darker tone than usual in a conversation he had a few weeks before he was killed in a suicide bombing in Afghanistan. Fellow Newfoundlander, Corporal Tim Fowler, said Murphy worried about the possibility of fatal accidents, especially in the final days of his tour. (Murphy was killed January 27th when a suicide bomber set off two mortar bombs strapped to his chest.)
