Celebrations were held on France's Normandy coast marking the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Hundreds of Canadian veterans gathered at Juno Beach, where they landed on June 6th, 1944 to help liberate Europe from the Nazis. The Queen was among the dignitaries who spoke at the June 6th ceremony. (Prime Minister Paul Martin also spoke. Martin said time has not erased the deep impressions Canadian and other Allied forces made in history on June 6th, 1944.)
