Jack McClelland died at the age of 81. The legendary promoter of Canadian literature passed away at his Toronto home. Author and broadcaster Pierre Berton was a close friend of McClelland's for 50 years. (A colleague said McClelland had lost his sight and hearing in recent years, and he was very ill. He had a stroke several years before he died.)
