Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe accused the Liberals of using fear tactics during the federal election campaign. The Liberals had a slogan that said "a vote for the Bloc is a vote for separation." Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Pierre Pettigrew and former cabinet minister Stephane Dion warned that electing Bloc MP's would boost sovereignty's chances. Duceppe was confident Quebecers ware capable of making up their own minds.
