Preview Clip

Former New Democrat Svend Robinson was given a conditional discharge -- meaning no jail time -- after pleading guilty to stealing an expensive ring. The sentence was imposed shortly after he entered a guilty plea August 6th in a Vancouver courtroom. In April, Robinson admitted stealing the ring, saying he was under great stress. His lawyer, Clayton Ruby, said the court recognized Robinson's cry for help by agreeing not to impose a jail term. (Robinson was handed 100 hours of community work as part of his sentence.)
