Rudy Maugeri (mah-ZHER-ee) of the popular Toronto 50's doo-wop group "The Crew Cuts" died May 4th in Las Vegas. Maugeri had been battling pancreatic cancer. The band was a huge Canadian success story, scoring hits with covers of R-&-B songs like "Sh-Boom" and "Earth Angel." Maugeri's brother George, in Toronto, said they weren't only big in North America. (Maugeri was 73 years-old.)
