The first ministers signed a 10-year health care agreement with the federal government on September 15th. The deal included an extra 18 billion dollars for medicare over six years. At a late night news conference, Prime Minister Martin said the deal would kick-start a reduction in waiting times. (The deal was signed by Martin and the other first ministers after a day of marathon negotiations.)
