Prime Minister Paul Martin and US President George Bush agreed to work together to fight terrorism and build the economy. The two leaders addressed a November 30th news conference in Ottawa, after meeting for almost two hours. Bush said he was proud to call Canada and the prime minister a friend. (Bush said Canada and the US, "stand together against the forces of terror." He pointed to Canada's military role in Afghanistan as a reason why that country was recently able to hold democratic elections.)
