A Snowbirds jet crashed August 24th in Thunder Bay, Ontario en route to a local air show. The pilot was able to eject safely. Snowbirds commanding officer Major Ian McLean says the pilot's training played a key role in his survival. (The crash happened as eight Snowbirds were preparing to fly in formation ahead of the air show.)
