Manitoba's health minister applauded a September 29th court ruling upholding the province's sweeping smoking ban. Tim Sale said the decision validated the government's position that employees have the right to work in a smoke-free environment. (Robert Jenkinson, a bar owner from Treherne (tree-HURHN'), Manitoba challenged the law on the basis it didn't apply to bingo halls and casinos on native reserves, which are under federal jurisdiction. But a judge decided the jurisdictional divide didn't amount to discrimination.)
