The First Ministers' conference on aboriginal issues ended with the federal government committing to a 10-year plan that pledges 5.1 billion dollars over the next five years to alleviate native poverty and improve the quality of life for aboriginal Canadians. British Columbia's Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation, Tom Christensen, said the result of the conference was historic.
