Thousands paid tribute as Matthew Dinning, the first of four Canadian soldiers killed the week before in Afghanistan, was laid to rest April 29th. During the funeral, Lincoln Dinning criticized the Harper government's decision to ban the media from covering the arrival of his son's remains at CFB Trenton. (Dinning told 23-hundred mourners his son died doing the job he loved.)
