Nova Scotians learned on October 5th that they'd be able to shop on Sundays. The province's Tory government decided to opt for a wide-open playing field following a court decision to strike down restrictive Sunday shopping regulations governing two grocery giants. Halifax Chamber of Commerce head Valerie Payn said Premier Rodney MacDonald made the right move. (Sobeys and Superstore, the two chains whose court challenge toppled Nova Scotia's Sunday shopping ban, praised the court ruling.)
