The multiple murder trial of Vancouver-area pig farmer Robert Pickton got underway January 22nd in New Westminster, BC. Sandra Gagnon (GAHN'-yawn) arrived at the courthouse at 7 am because she was worried about not getting a seat. Her sister Janet Henry was one of the more than 60 women who disappeared from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. (Pickton was charged in the murders of 26 women from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. But the trial dealt with only six of those charges -- the others were to be heard at a later date.)
