There was a surprise development in a criminal case that stemmed from the sponsorship scandal. Canadian Press reporter Les Perreaux said on April 27th that former advertising executive Jean Lafleur pleaded guilty to 28 fraud charges. (Lafleur was originally charged with 35 counts of defrauding Ottawa out of nearly 1.6 million dollars. The crown dropped the other charges.)
