Justin Trudeau, the son of the late prime minister Pierre Trudeau, will run for the Liberals in the federal election. He won the right to represent the party in the downtown Montreal riding of Papineau. Canadian Press reporter Alex Panetta said Trudeau captured the April 29th race in the first ballot. (Trudeau defeated a popular city councilor and the editor of an Italian-language newspaper in the race for the nomination.)
