Andre Boisclair announced May 8th that he was quitting as leader of the Patti Quebecois, after the separatist party's poor showing in the March provincial election. Speaking through an interpreter, Boisclair said he was ready to assume his share of the responsibility. But he added that he did the best he could as leader. (The knives had been out for Boisclair ever since the provincial election where the PQ won only 36 of the 125 seats in the Quebec legislature.)
