An inquiry into the police killing of a native protester in Ipperwash, Ontario 12 years ago found both the federal and Ontario governments as well as police responsible for the death of Dudley George. Commissioner Sydney Linden blamed Ontario Provincial Police for cultural insensitivity and racism, faulty intelligence and poor communications. (In his findings, Linden blamed Ottawa for expropriating disputed First Nations land, then failing to give it back as promised.)
